PRESIDENT OF UPPER HOUSE JOHN DAWKINS MLC
John Dawkins retires after 34 years of service
In a letter to the Greek Tribune, the President of the Upper House (Legislative
Council) of South Australia announces his departure from politics after 34 years
in service. The outgoing President has had a long connection with the Greek
Tribune, which goes back to the early years of the newspaper, in the 90’s, while it
was still based in the Riverland. We wish him a happy retirement!
The Editor, Greek Tribune
Dear Peter,
I would like to pass on my thanks and best wishes to yourself at the Greek
Tribune, as well as the wider Greek community, as I approach my retirement
from Parliament.
The upcoming election on March 19 will mark the end of my 24 years as a
Member of Parliament. It has been a wonderful privilege to serve as a Member
of the Legislative Council for three terms, with the past one and a half years as
President.
I have had a strong engagement with the Greek Tribune throughout my
Parliamentary career, stemming from my work in the electorate of Chaffey in the
late 1990s. I commend the important work your newspaper does in informing
and connecting with the South Australian Greek community.
Yours sincerely
The Hon John Dawkins MLC
President
of the Legislative Council
