Georganas elected ALP (SA) President

Steve Georganas MP, Federal Member for Hindmarsh, was  elected unopposed as President of the Australian Labor Party (South Australia Branch) for a term of one year, by the annual State ALP conference last weekend.

Mr Georganas said ‘I am honoured and  proud to take the position as  President of the South Australian Labor Party and I look forward  to helping the Party gain in unity, discipline and strength.”

“This will be a crucial year for the SA Labor branch. The State Labor Government is heading towards its second year of a third term in Government. This period will require the entire Labor party to work in unity in order to have the structures in place that will allow for a successful campaign that takes the party forward, towards a strong showing at the next state election campaign,” said Mr Georganas. 

“As president I look forward to presiding over the South Australian Sate Branch of the ALP during this very important period in the electoral cycle”, said Steve Georganas.

Steve Georganas took over from Mr Peter Malinuskas at the end of the final session of the ALP conference last weekend, in Adelaide, at the Festival centre. Mr Georganas thanked Mr Malinuskas for his contribution as president over the past year.
