Greek Community of South Australia celebrates 100 years of International Women’s Day

The Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia Inc. celebrates International Women's Day each year with a special community event to mark the occasion.

This year’s forum celebrates 100 years of International Women’s Day (1911-2011) and will be highlighted by guest speakers Loula Galatis and Maria Palaktsoglou.

The event is taking place at 7.00pm on Tuesday March 8 2011 at the Olympic Hall, 288 Franklin Street in the city.

Enjoy entertainment from the Meraki Trio featuring Johanna Saltis (vocals) Katerina Stevens (violin) and Demeter Tsounis (piano) with a program of expressive Greek songs about human suffering, hope, peace and love and some traditional dance music followed by a light supper.

The Greek Orthodox Community will also honour  Mrs Eva Drummond and Mrs Chrysoula Heilser by giving awards in recognition of their valuable services to the Community.

We hope that you can join us on this very special day for women internationally.

The event will be presented in Greek with some English translations.

For further information, call 8231 4307.
