Adelaide celebrates 28 October

November 2021 The Greek Orthodox Community of South Australia celebrated the 28th of October 1940, at the cenotaph of the Cathedral of Archangels Michael and Gabriel on Sunday 31 October. The celebration begun with a doxology by the Community’s clergy and continued with a wreath laying ceremony by representatives of the South Australian Government and Opposition and representatives of many local Greek community organisations. The event included poem recitals by students of Greek Community schools and closed with the national anthems of Greece and Australia. The celebration of the 28th of October honors the heroic OXI (NO) by the people of Greece and the subsequent victory over of the invading fascist Axis forces.
